IP Litigation Associate (Copyright/Trademarks)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IP Litigation Associate to join a national intellectual property practice in Canada. The successful candidate will handle copyright and trademark disputes, working closely with senior counsel and the broader IP team. The position offers the flexibility to be based in either Toronto or Vancouver.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all phases of copyright and trademark litigation, from initial pleadings through trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal opinions, and other court documents.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research on infringement, validity, and enforcement issues.
• Participate in examinations, mediations, and court appearances.
• Collaborate with the wider IP group on both contentious and non‑contentious matters.

Required profile

• Called to the Bar in Ontario or British Columbia and in good standing.
• 4–5 years of IP litigation experience with a focus on copyright and/or trademarks.
• Strong litigation, drafting, and advocacy abilities.
• Experience in Federal Court is an asset.
• Proven ability to manage files independently while working with senior counsel.
