Intermediate Staff Accountant

About the role

Intermediate Staff Accountant position in the Audit & Advisory team at Crowe Soberman LLP, based in Toronto with a hybrid work arrangement. The role reports to audit partners, senior managers and managers and is a full‑time permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements with required notes and accompanying letters.
• Ensure all planned audit procedures are completed in accordance with firm policies, Canadian standards and resolve any outstanding queries.
• Perform audit sections including walkthroughs, internal control analysis, accounts receivable/payable, inventory, revenue, expenses, analytical review and inventory counts.
• Execute complete compilation and review engagements, delivering financial statements and corporate tax returns.
• Develop complex investment write‑ups and T‑slip reconciliations for off‑calendar year‑ends.
• Prepare corporate, personal, partnership and trust tax returns.
• Review significant assurance findings with managers or partners and propose resolutions.

Required profile

• University degree and working towards CPA designation.
• Minimum one year of practical experience in public accounting practice.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), CSRE 2400 and Canadian tax legislation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work with minimal supervision.
