About the role
The firm’s Calgary litigation practice is expanding its insurance defence team. We are looking for an associate to manage a diverse portfolio of defence matters for insurer and self‑insured clients. This is a confidential search and the client’s identity will be disclosed only to shortlisted candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Manage insurance defence files from intake through to resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal opinions.
- Attend examinations for discovery, mediations and court appearances.
- Communicate regularly with insurer clients and adjusters.
- Conduct legal research on coverage and liability issues.
Required profile
- Called to the Bar in Alberta and in good standing.
- 2‑4 years of litigation experience, preferably with insurance defence exposure.
- Strong file‑management and client‑communication abilities.
- Comfortable handling a high‑volume caseload.
- Practical, business‑minded approach to litigation.
