Engineering Technician 4 – Laboratory Instrumentation & Design

About the role

The Engineering Technician 4 provides high‑level technical support for research and teaching laboratories at the Life Science Institute. The role involves repairing, maintaining, designing, and fabricating specialized laboratory equipment to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain a wide range of laboratory instrumentation used in research and teaching labs.
• Design, fabricate, and modify electronic and mechanical systems required by laboratory personnel.
• Interpret technical and non‑technical drawings to determine requirements and propose practical solutions.
• Operate workshop equipment such as electronic test instruments, metal‑working and woodworking tools.
• Provide training on equipment use, safety procedures, and best practices.

Required profile

• Graduation from a technical college or recognized apprenticeship program.
• Minimum five years of related experience in a scientific or research facility.
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritize projects under pressure.
