Director, Technical Revenue Accounting

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Director of Technical Revenue Accounting to lead the most complex ASC 606 accounting initiatives. You will shape revenue policy, guide cross‑functional teams, and ensure compliance for new products and strategic deals.

Key responsibilities

• Own and author the ASC 606 technical accounting memo portfolio, reviewing complex revenue recognition scenarios.
• Lead technical revenue assessments for all new product offerings, defining performance obligations and contract modification frameworks.
• Partner with Deal Desk, Sales, and Legal to structure non‑standard deals and provide real‑time revenue recognition guidance.
• Provide technical accounting guidance for partnership and marketplace arrangements, including principal‑vs‑agent determinations and revenue‑share economics.
• Manage key accounting processes such as SSP analysis, contractual credit amortization, reseller incentives, and footnote disclosures.
• Maintain the revenue contract review framework, including ASC 606 checklists, position papers, and escalation paths.
• Lead research on emerging revenue recognition issues and present recommendations to the Controller.
• Translate complex technical accounting requirements into actionable guidance for non‑accounting stakeholders.
• Review month‑end close journal entries and perform flux analysis.
• Drive process improvements and revenue system implementation projects, overseeing scoping, design sign‑off, and UAT.

Required profile

• Proven experience authoring technical accounting memoranda on complex ASC 606 issues.
• Deep knowledge of revenue recognition, SSP analysis, and contract accounting.
• Track record of influencing cross‑functional teams (Product, Pricing, Deal Desk, Legal).
• Experience with partnership, marketplace, and non‑standard deal structures.
