Corporate Development Lead – Life Sciences

About the role

Anthropic is looking for an experienced Corporate Development leader to shape its strategic transactions in life sciences and biotech. You will source, evaluate, and close acquisitions, investments, and partnerships that leverage AI to accelerate drug discovery and development while upholding the company’s safety‑first mission.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute Anthropic’s corporate development strategy for life‑sciences, including acquihires, tuck‑in acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnerships.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of AI‑native companies across drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory support, lab automation, and healthcare data infrastructure.
• Lead end‑to‑end transaction processes from sourcing through diligence, negotiation, signing, and post‑deal integration.
• Collaborate with research, product, engineering, and go‑to‑market teams to assess technical, scientific, and commercial value of opportunities.
• Conduct sector‑specific diligence covering scientific validation, regulatory posture (FDA, EMA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11), data privacy (HIPAA, GDPR), quality systems, and IP.
• Evaluate build‑partner‑buy trade‑offs and competitive dynamics against incumbents and emerging AI entrants.
• Structure and negotiate complex deals, including earn‑outs, milestone‑based consideration, and licensing arrangements, working closely with legal, finance, and policy teams.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of life‑sciences R&D, clinical and regulatory workflows.
• Technical fluency in AI and demonstrated ability to assess AI‑native business models.
• Proven track record of closing complex M&A transactions, investments, or strategic partnerships.
• Strong analytical mindset to evaluate scientific data, compliance posture, and financial metrics with equal rigor.
• Commitment to AI safety and alignment with Anthropic’s mission to build helpful, harmless, and honest AI systems.
