Associate Director, Quality Engineering (12 Months contract)

About the role

We are looking for an Associate Director of Quality Engineering to lead the automation testing strategy for our commercial lending technology applications. This 12‑month contract role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on technical work, ensuring the highest quality standards across software, systems and databases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a high‑performing AQA team, handling hiring and career development.
• Define and execute a comprehensive automation strategy for applications, APIs, and databases.
• Oversee SQL‑based automated tests to validate data integrity, performance and security.
• Leverage Azure Machine Learning to build predictive models that enhance test coverage.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and related tools.
• Manage performance, load and stress testing for both applications and databases.
• Establish and report on quality metrics such as defect density and test coverage.
• Collaborate with product, development and DevOps teams to align testing with business goals.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in automated quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with Azure services (Purview, Power Automate, DevOps, Machine Learning).
• Proven track record of building and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cypress or Appium.
• Strong background in performance and load testing using JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Bamboo).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
