Tax Manager

About the role

MNP is seeking a Tax Manager to lead client‑facing engagement teams and deliver customized tax strategies within a complex regulatory environment. You will act as a trusted advisor, designing solutions that ensure compliance, minimise risk, and maximise client returns.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple client engagement teams to complete tax engagements on time and within budget.
• Provide industry and technical tax expertise through client interactions, reports, and presentations.
• Evaluate business processes, advise on policy and tax changes, and develop proactive tax strategies.
• Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial ministries on client matters.
• Prepare election forms for corporate reorganisations and manage personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
• Maintain a portfolio of clients, understand their businesses, and identify opportunities for added value.
• Oversee engagement planning, scheduling, budgeting, billing, and variance recognition.
• Ensure high‑quality control and address issues relevant to client financial entries and reports.
• Network locally, contribute to business development, and assist in proposal preparation.
• Mentor and coach team members, providing performance feedback and development guidance.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Completion of Level 1 of the In‑depth Tax Program and other specialist development courses.
• 4–5 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience.
• Extensive working knowledge of Canadian tax legislation.
• Strong understanding of business, accounting, and practice development principles.
• Proven people‑management, relationship‑building, and leadership abilities.
