About the role
AVEVA is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Canadian team in Calgary. You will be the primary legal advisor for commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws while supporting the business’s growth objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including software licences, SaaS, cloud services, consulting, and service delivery contracts.
- Provide pragmatic legal and commercial advice to management and field employees across Canada.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Canadian laws and regulations and ensure company compliance.
- Support RFQ/RFP processes, NDAs, strategic teaming, prime and subcontractor agreements within the approved legal framework.
- Collaborate with legal counterparts in EMEA and Asia‑Pacific, as well as internal teams such as Sales and Finance.
- Liaise with external counsel and relevant authorities, and contribute to special projects as required.
Required profile
- Law degree and membership in good standing of at least one provincial bar association.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an in‑house legal role or as a transactional attorney.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑service orientation.
