Senior Accountant

About the role

The Finance team at the Vancouver Airport Authority is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead accurate accounting, analysis, and reporting of complex revenue streams. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting strategic finance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oversight and mentorship to junior accounting staff, reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Apply and interpret GAAP, ASNPO, and IFRS standards for revenue recognition, deferred revenue, contract accounting, and leases.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue estimates and accruals, including complex judgmental estimates.
• Support period‑end close activities and reporting for revenue and related balance‑sheet accounts.
• Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Contribute to finance transformation projects, system enhancements, and process automation related to revenue.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in financial reporting, revenue accounting, and internal controls.
• CPA designation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for judgmental accounting matters.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing technical memos and explaining conclusions.
• French language skills are an asset but not required.
