About the role

Join Staples Promotional Products as an Outside Business Development Representative and drive new business growth across Canada. You will focus on prospecting, lead generation, and consultative selling of program‑based promotional solutions for Fortune 500 companies and other strategic accounts.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify and acquire new accounts, emphasizing Canada’s Fortune 500 and strategic targets.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of SPP capabilities, brand positioning, product offerings, and operational processes.
  • Translate customer needs into clear solutions, manage proposal development, negotiation, and contracting.
  • Develop and deliver high‑impact pitches, lead RFP responses, and collaborate with Staples Canada, SPP Global, and HQ teams.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, Creative, Graphics, and Account Services to support pitches and onboarding.
  • Coordinate with Sales Enablement to identify margin opportunities and maximize profitability.
  • Manage opportunities through the sales cycle using Salesforce for pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
  • Balance outreach, meetings, and follow‑ups in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment.

Required profile

  • Proven expertise in lead generation, prospecting, and client acquisition for promotional programs.
  • Strong program‑based selling skills with ability to position full‑service capabilities (design, sourcing, fulfillment, ecommerce).
  • Excellent relationship‑building with corporate, marketing, HR, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Consultative sales and negotiation abilities to uncover needs, propose innovative solutions, and close multichannel programs.
  • Awareness of market trends and growth opportunities.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills for pitches, proposals, and stakeholder updates.

Required skills

  • Salesforce (CRM) for pipeline and forecast management.
