Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician will ensure the smooth and safe operation of PPG's Quebec City paint production facility. Working primarily on a shift schedule, you will support both peak (March‑September) and off‑peak periods, reporting directly to the Production Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on paint production equipment.
• Maintain pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems such as pumps, valves, valve actuators, high‑speed dispersers, belt engines and filtration units.
• Unload liquid bulk shipments and conduct daily forklift inspections.
• Apply 5S principles, conduct floor audits and keep plant areas clean.
• Carry out monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations and emergency lighting.
• Assist with painting tasks at the end of the production season (October‑March).
• Supervise external contractors and collaborate with site personnel as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• Strong analytical and observational abilities.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity for heavy lifting.
• Availability to work outside regular hours during the high season.
• Fluency in both French and English.

Required skills

• Experience with maintenance software (FIXX).
• Forklift operation (training provided if needed).
