Investigative Journalist (Remote, Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an investigative journalist to work remotely on a contract basis, delivering original news stories and in‑depth features. The role offers flexibility of 10‑40 hours per week and requires strong research, interviewing, and writing abilities.

Key responsibilities

• Research, pitch, and develop original news stories, features, and in‑depth articles.
• Conduct interviews, gather firsthand insights, and verify facts using authoritative sources.
• Create clear, compelling, and accurate written content tailored to diverse audiences.
• Edit and proofread articles to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to editorial standards.
• Collaborate with editors, designers, and other journalists to enhance content quality.
• Monitor current events, trends, and issues relevant to assigned beats.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a journalist with a strong portfolio of published work.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in conducting interviews and synthesizing complex information.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a remote setting.
• High degree of curiosity, initiative, and critical thinking.
• Solid understanding of media law, ethics, and best practices.
