Health Care Aide

About the role

The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct personal care and health support to residents of Youville Home, a compassionate continuing‑care community near Edmonton. Working under functional supervision from the nursing team, the HCA contributes to a multidisciplinary environment that includes on‑site nurse practitioners, therapists, and spiritual support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
• Monitor and report changes in health status, behavior, or signs of distress to the appropriate team member.
• Deliver care in line with documented care plans and delegated tasks.
• Promote resident comfort, dignity, and safety while encouraging engagement.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives through feedback and self‑reflection.

Required profile

• Regulated health professional status as a Health Care Aide.
• Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong commitment to professionalism, responsibility, and accountability.
• Willingness to embody Covenant Health’s values in daily practice.

Required skills

• Competence in providing personal care and support to individuals across the lifespan.
• Ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in resident condition.
• Basic knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.
