Full-time Emergency Physician – Royal Columbian & Eagle Ridge Hospitals

About the role

The Columbia Emergency Physicians Association is seeking full‑time Emergency Physicians to work across Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) in the Fraser Health region. Physicians will provide high‑volume, high‑acuity emergency care, teach residents and medical students, and may engage in research, quality improvement and leadership activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care at both RCH and ERH, averaging about 13 shifts per month.
• Teach and supervise residents and UBC medical students during clinical shifts.
• Participate in research, quality improvement projects, and departmental education initiatives.
• Contribute to simulation training, geriatric emergency medicine, and other specialty programs.

Required profile

• CCFP (EM) or FRCPC (EM) certification and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
• PALS or APLS certification obtained within the past five years.
• ABEM certification (eligible) and ATLS or comparable trauma certification (e.g., STRUC) highly recommended.
• Experience in a high‑volume, high‑acuity emergency department, preferably with trauma and pediatric exposure.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion principles.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (APLS).
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or equivalent trauma certification.
• Clinical expertise in emergency, trauma, and pediatric emergency medicine.
• Teaching and mentorship abilities.
