Financial Controller (Remote, Full-Time Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking a highly organized Financial Controller to act as the operational backbone of our finance function. This remote, full‑time contractor role will ensure that multiple entities remain reconciled, compliant, audit‑ready, and financially organized at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee weekly and monthly close processes across multiple entities.
• Maintain fully reconciled financials with zero uncategorized balances.
• Manage accounts payable workflows, vendor payments, W‑9/1099 documentation, and approval tracking.
• Monitor cash flow, account balances, and tax reserve schedules proactively.
• Process and reconcile payroll through Deel.
• Maintain organized, audit‑ready financial records and data rooms.
• Coordinate with CPAs, legal teams, FP&A, and leadership on reporting and compliance.
• Support automation of reconciliation and reporting systems using available integrations and tools.
• Track budget‑to‑actuals and flag anomalies or risks early.

Required profile

• Proactive, detail‑oriented and capable of working independently in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong operational discipline with excellent documentation management.
• Experience supporting founders, startups, or high‑growth companies is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and multi‑entity financial operations.
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online, Deel and ClickUp.
• Experience managing AP/AR workflows, payroll processing, cash‑flow monitoring and audit‑ready reporting.
