Emergency Physician – Nanaimo

About the role

Island Health’s Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking board‑certified emergency physicians to join a progressive, collegial team of more than 20 physicians in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The position involves providing clinical and trauma leadership in the busiest emergency department on Vancouver Island.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality emergency and trauma care to a diverse patient population.
• Lead the emergency and trauma team within a state‑of‑the‑art department serving 70,000 annual visits.
• Collaborate with major specialty services for comprehensive patient management.
• Participate in clinical, administrative, educational, and research activities as desired.

Required profile

• Current certification in Emergency Medicine and eligibility for licensure in British Columbia.
• Previous experience in a high‑volume emergency department is encouraged.
• Interest in contributing to clinical care, education, research, or departmental leadership.
