Database Architect (Remote)

About the role

The Database Architect will act as the subject‑matter expert for all database services within Autodesk Construction Solutions (ACS). Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, AEC Construction, you will lead a council of database specialists, drive standards, and ensure the organization is ready to deliver high‑quality, database‑backed SaaS solutions. This is a fully remote position based in Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously assess database readiness and identify risks or gaps.
• Charter tactical and strategic solutions for the DB platform team.
• Introduce improvements such as capacity management, monitoring/alerting, tuning, sharding, migrations, schema and query optimization, deadlock resolution, load optimization, and performance tuning.
• Manage data replication for reporting and oversee migrations.
• Utilize industry‑standard observability tooling and AWS automation to implement standards across the database fleet.
• Form and lead a high‑impact council of experts across ACS.
• Provide direct consulting to teams and COE leads on readiness and risks.
• Select and curate training opportunities for ACS engineering in database technologies.
• Offer tactical support during emergency incidents.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in database architecture for enterprise SaaS platforms at scale.
• At least 8 years of hands‑on PostgreSQL experience.
• Minimum 5 years working with cloud data technologies and NoSQL cloud‑based architectures.
• Strong communication and organizational skills to share expertise and influence outcomes.
