Controller – Finance Leader in Logistics

About the role

Our client, a growing logistics and transportation organization, is looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and finance function. The role combines hands‑on financial management with strategic insight to support rapid business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting activities, including general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to improve efficiency.
• Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights for strategic decisions.
• Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.
• Monitor logistics‑specific KPIs such as freight costs, margins, and utilization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting/finance team.

Required profile

• CPA designation (required).
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in logistics, transportation, or supply‑chain industry.
• Proven leadership experience with team development.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems and financial software.
