About the role
The Constituency Assistant supports the daily operations of a Member of Parliament’s office, acting as the primary point of contact for constituents and ensuring communications are handled efficiently. This role blends administrative duties, casework, and client‑service functions to help the office deliver high‑quality support to the community.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and triage incoming communications (calls, emails, letters) from constituents.
- Organise, prioritise, and draft formal correspondence.
- Greet visitors, answer phones, and provide front‑desk reception.
- Assist with data entry, filing, and general office administration.
- Collaborate with the MP and team members to ensure timely case resolution.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and diplomatic handling of sensitive issues.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary education or an equivalent mix of training and experience.
- Customer‑service experience in an office setting, preferably with reception or administrative duties.
- Strong organisational, time‑management and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication with high attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience using social‑media platforms for outreach.
- Familiarity with basic online graphic‑creation tools.
