About the role

The Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Defence and Dual‑Use Technologies is a tenure‑track appointment at McGill University. The chairholder will lead a world‑class research programme that addresses critical national security challenges through advanced digital technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a transformative research agenda in defence and dual‑use technologies.
• Build and manage an interdisciplinary research team, including graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows.
• Secure and steward long‑term funding of up to CAD 8 million over eight years.
• Collaborate with industry, government, and international partners to translate discoveries into commercial and societal impact.
• Contribute to teaching and mentorship within the academic unit.

Required profile

• Internationally recognized researcher with a recent record of high‑impact publications.
• Currently residing and working outside Canada at the time of application.
• Eligible for a tenure‑track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, with promotion to Full Professor within two years.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary projects.
