About the role
Miller Thomson is seeking a Business Development Specialist to join its Toronto office. The role sits within the Markets Team and supports the firm’s strategic growth objectives, particularly for the Advocacy Law Group. You will work under the Business Development Manager, handling a blend of strategy execution, content creation, research, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies and annual plans for assigned practice groups.
- Contribute to thought‑leadership initiatives, events, and client outreach aligned with group priorities.
- Schedule meetings, coordinate materials, and manage logistics for internal stakeholders.
- Prepare client‑focused documents such as capability statements, proposals, and RFP responses.
- Produce reports and dashboards tracking BD KPIs and marketing results.
- Compile briefing materials for lawyers ahead of client meetings, pitches, and events.
- Maintain matter collections for the Advocacy group, supporting directory submissions and collateral.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance reporting tools and internal dashboards.
- Assist with data analysis, finance‑related reporting, and quarterly reporting for the Practice Group Chair.
Required profile
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate stakeholder activities.
- Experience preparing client‑focused materials and responding to RFPs.
- Strong organizational skills for scheduling meetings and handling logistics.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to support business development metrics.
