Assistant Controller (13‑month contract)

About the role

This 13‑month contract position supports a growing business by overseeing day‑to‑day accounting and driving operational efficiencies. The role combines hands‑on accounting work with strategic financial analysis to help leadership make informed decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for a single entity, including month‑end close, reconciliations, accruals and general‑ledger activity.
• Prepare single‑entity financial statements in accordance with IFRS reporting standards.
• Oversee cash‑flow, expense, accounts‑receivable and accounts‑payable functions.
• Support manufacturing accounting with a focus on inventory and related reporting.
• Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
• Complete quarterly financial‑statement reporting using established templates.
• Perform variance analysis and deliver strategic financial insight to senior leadership.
• Lead the external audit process and coordinate all audit deliverables.
• Manage minor intercompany transactions and charge‑backs.
• Supervise two team members and oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller or senior‑level accounting leader.
• Strong hands‑on experience with full‑cycle accounting.
• Solid understanding of IFRS reporting framework.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, including inventory accounting and cost analysis.
• Demonstrated ability in cash‑flow management and variance analysis.
• Capability to work effectively in a small business setting, balancing analysis with transactional oversight.
• Prior experience supervising, mentoring or reviewing the work of direct reports.
