Sessional Lecturer – World War II France (HIS301H1-S)

About the role

The Department of History seeks a sessional lecturer to teach HIS301H1-S, a third‑year course examining World War II in France. The role involves delivering two‑hour in‑person lectures each week, developing course materials, and supporting student learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and update the course syllabus and weekly lesson plans.
• Deliver two‑hour lectures on Thursdays (15:00‑17:00) for the January‑April 2027 term.
• Mark assignments, exams, and other assessments.
• Hold one hour of scheduled office hours each week.
• Engage students with primary and secondary sources, visual material, and films.

Required profile

• Master of Arts in History or a closely related field (minimum).
• Demonstrated mastery of World War II French history.
• Preferred: PhD in History and evidence of superior undergraduate teaching.
• Prior experience teaching a similar undergraduate course is highly desirable.
