Part-time Lecturer – Director of Chamber Orchestra & Symphonic Band

About the role

The Department of Music at Mount Allison University seeks a part‑time lecturer to serve as Director of the Mount Allison Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Band for the Winter term (January – April 2027). This stipendiary appointment offers the chance to lead two university ensembles, guide student musicians, and present public concerts.

Key responsibilities

• Direct weekly rehearsals for the Chamber Orchestra (Thursday evenings) and the Symphonic Band (Monday and Wednesday evenings).
• Evaluate student participation and provide constructive feedback.
• Plan and prepare up to two public concerts per ensemble during the term.
• Collaborate with department faculty and support the academic mission of the music program.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in performance or conducting.
• Established record of successful ensemble direction at university and/or professional levels.
• Ability to commit to the Winter term schedule (January – April 2027).
