General Helper – Food Service

About the role

The General Helper supports food preparation, packaging, and distribution while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, ensuring meals are ready for service and that the work area remains clean and organized.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense food for next‑day production and plate individual meals.
• Store food in designated areas, following wrapping, dating, safety, and rotation procedures.
• Perform general cleaning duties, including trash removal.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Follow approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, temperature, and portion control.
• Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Work at various stations, including meal packaging and distribution.
• Learn and apply skid‑wrapping techniques for finished products.

Required profile

• Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Strong time‑management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Previous food‑service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant, or fast‑food settings is an asset.
• Physical capability to lift up to 40 lb and perform repetitive tasks.
