Emergency Physician – Join Progressive Team in Nanaimo

About the role

Island Health’s Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking board‑certified emergency physicians to join a progressive, collegial team of more than 20 doctors in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The position offers the chance to lead emergency and trauma care in the busiest emergency department on Vancouver Island, serving roughly 70,000 patients each year.

Key responsibilities

• Provide acute emergency and trauma care to a high‑volume patient population.
• Lead and mentor the emergency and trauma team in clinical decision‑making.
• Participate in administrative, educational, and research initiatives within the department.
• Collaborate with specialty services to ensure comprehensive patient management.

Required profile

• Board certification in Emergency Medicine and eligibility for licensure in British Columbia.
• Experience in a busy emergency department is strongly preferred.
• Commitment to high‑quality patient care and teamwork.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Trauma Advanced Life Support (ATLS) certification.
