Director of Facilities Management & Technical Services

About the role

An established real‑estate investment and development organization is seeking a senior leader to direct facilities strategy and technical services across a national portfolio of residential, office and retail assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead facilities operations for a multi‑region portfolio covering Ontario, Quebec and Vancouver, ensuring consistent service delivery and maintenance standards.
• Develop and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs for all building systems.
• Oversee core systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire & life‑safety, and building automation (BAS).
• Contribute to annual operating budgets and create long‑term capital plans (5‑10 years) to preserve asset value.
• Manage procurement, tendering and vendor contracts, driving cost efficiency and performance accountability.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements, and lead health‑and‑safety initiatives.
• Mentor and develop facilities and maintenance teams across multiple regions, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Serve as the escalation point for facilities matters and provide regular performance reporting to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Sciences or a related discipline (preferred).
• Professional designations such as RPA, FMP or equivalent are advantageous.
• Proven experience leading facilities management for a geographically dispersed portfolio of residential and mixed‑use assets.
• Strong track record in budgeting, capital planning and vendor management.
