Defect Manager

About the role

The Defect Manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of software defects, from detection through resolution. This role ensures that bugs are logged, triaged, prioritized and tracked efficiently, collaborating closely with development, QA and project teams. The manager utilizes defect tracking tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps to drive timely, high‑quality fixes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end defect process, including identification, documentation, analysis, prioritization, tracking and closure.
• Lead defect triage meetings and prioritize bugs based on severity and business impact.
• Conduct or lead root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve processes.
• Prepare and present detailed defect reports, metrics and trends to management and stakeholders.
• Act as a bridge between testers, developers and project managers to expedite bug fixes.
• Maintain system documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing software defects or bug tracking within an IT environment.
• Strong analytical abilities to perform root cause analysis and drive process improvements.
• Effective communication skills for reporting to stakeholders and coordinating cross‑functional teams.
