Platform Engineer – Azure & Databricks Developer

About the role
The Platform Engineer will join Scotiabank’s Enterprise Data & AI Technology team, supporting the design, deployment, and operation of Azure and Databricks platforms. Working under senior engineers, you will help deliver infrastructure, automation, and monitoring solutions that enable data‑driven decision making across the bank.
Key responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in building and tuning Azure networking and security components (VNets, NSGs, route tables, private endpoints, RBAC).
- Support the provisioning and maintenance of Databricks resources, including clusters, SQL warehouses, and Unity Catalog objects.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for Azure native resources and Databricks, following best‑practice IaC standards.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline validation.
- Help diagnose platform issues, analyze logs and metrics, and contribute to incident response.
- Create monitoring dashboards, alert rules, and log ingestion pipelines using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Document SOPs, technical guides, and onboarding material for platform users.
Required profile
- Experience working with Azure cloud services and Databricks in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to follow coding standards, write clear documentation, and work under guidance from senior staff.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset and interest in automation and reliability engineering.
Required skills
- Microsoft Azure (networking, storage, Key Vault, Event Hub, Azure SQL)
- Databricks (clusters, SQL warehouses, Unity Catalog)
- Terraform (IaC module development)
- Azure networking concepts: VNets, NSGs, route tables, private endpoints, RBAC
- Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for observability
- CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
