Part‑Time Library Cleaner

About the role

As a Cleaner for the Lambton County Library system, you will maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of public, private, and theatre spaces, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Follow established cleaning routines and checklists for all assigned areas.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, and floors.
• Dust, mop, damp‑mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility using designated equipment.
• Sanitize kitchen areas in the lunchroom, server, and lounge, replenishing supplies as needed.
• Wipe down furniture, desks, shelving, computers, and other equipment.
• Disinfect high‑touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, phones, and light switches.
• Empty waste baskets and recyclables and transport them to the disposal area.
• Clean woodwork, windows, door panels, partitions, sills, stairs, and walls.
• Report any signs of pests, water leaks, mould, or other potential issues.
• Submit completed cleaning checklists weekly and travel to other facilities when required.

Required profile

• Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
• Attention to detail and adherence to cleaning protocols.
• Good communication skills for interacting with library users and staff.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks and lift equipment.

Required skills

• Use of standard cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and mops.
