Financial Controller – Commercial Real Estate (Private Equity Backed)

About the role

We are seeking a high‑performing Financial Controller to join a fast‑growing commercial real‑estate firm backed by a global private‑equity partner. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the transition from a transitional services agreement to a best‑in‑class, standalone accounting organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and institutionalize accounting workflows, cash‑cycle policies and internal controls.
• Oversee day‑to‑day corporate accounting, high‑volume accounts payable, treasury management and monthly closes for board reporting.
• Partner with senior leadership on financial due diligence for acquisitions and drive post‑acquisition integration.
• Collaborate with forecasting and IT teams to automate reconciliations, track capital expenditures and improve data accessibility.
• Manage statutory reporting, corporate tax filings and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.

Required profile

• Extensive full‑cycle accounting experience in a scaling real‑estate development, property‑management or asset‑management environment.
• Proven ability to identify automation opportunities and integrate ERP/accounting systems.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong attention to detail and high emotional intelligence.
• Relevant real‑estate finance or controller experience; CPA designation is a plus but not mandatory.
• Willingness to work fully onsite in North York with easy subway, GO Bus and highway access.
