About the role
We are seeking a Course Lecturer to co‑teach MIME 425/525 – Applied Stochastic Orebody Modelling for the Fall 2026 term. The role involves sharing instructional duties with a senior professor, delivering approximately 19.5 hours of teaching and related activities.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and tutorials on stochastic orebody modelling, geostatistical simulation, and risk quantification.
- Assist in developing course materials, assignments, and assessments.
- Guide students through practical applications using SGEMS and related software.
- Provide support for drilling, reserve classification, grade control, and mine‑planning optimisation exercises.
- Collaborate with the lead professor and Teaching and Learning Services to ensure high‑quality in‑person instruction.
Required profile
- PhD in Mining Engineering or a related field (Master’s may be considered with relevant research expertise).
- Demonstrated expertise in random field models, spatial simulation, and their application to mining operations.
- Eligibility for professional registration with a Canadian engineering association.
- Ability to work on‑site at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
