Construction Manager – Large Transit Project

About the role

The Construction Manager will lead and coordinate the daily management of a large transit infrastructure project in Toronto. Reporting to senior leadership, you will provide strategic input on planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement and workforce resourcing while ensuring strict compliance with safety, quality and training standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and enforce project‑specific safety programs, conduct site inspections and safety meetings, and manage incident reporting and investigations.
• Plan, schedule and control construction activities, set objectives and monitor progress in collaboration with the project team.
• Lead a multidisciplinary construction team of field engineers, leads and superintendents, overseeing both self‑perform and subcontracted work to meet quality and schedule targets.
• Review progress reports, schedules, quality and procurement plans, and work with engineering to resolve design issues.
• Facilitate construction management meetings with contractors, owners, engineering and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience as a Construction Manager on large‑scale rail or major infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
• Proven leadership, project management and problem‑solving abilities with a strong focus on risk and safety management.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain effective relationships with owners, contractors and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Project.
• Experience using the Viewpoint Project Management system (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret contract requirements and negotiate with contractors/clients.
