Chief Executive Officer for Public Library

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and visible leadership for Regina Public Library, guiding the organization through a period of transformation and ensuring its services meet evolving community needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a future‑oriented vision for library service delivery, including space, program and technology redesign.
• Strengthen relationships with City Administration, Council, Indigenous groups, newcomers and other community stakeholders.
• Elevate the library’s public profile and advocacy efforts.
• Drive financial sustainability through diversified funding strategies and prudent fiscal management.
• Lead digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
• Foster an inclusive, high‑performing organisational culture aligned with library values.
• Oversee governance, strategic planning and organizational leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience, preferably in the public or community services sector.
• Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) required; MBA or related graduate degree considered an asset.
• Demonstrated political acumen and ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong commitment to inclusion, Indigenous reconciliation and newcomer integration.
• Excellent relationship‑building, communication and advocacy abilities.
